SOUTH PLATTE BASIN
"asinwide Conditions Assessment:
The SWSI value of 3.0 indicates that for October the SOUTH PLATTE RIVER BASIN
index
basin water supplies were above normal. As IDNTW YEAR
in many years, this October's water supply was adequate
throughout most of the South Platte basin downstream of "
Denver to meet demand. There was no mainstem call the
whole month downstream of Chatfield Reservoir. In summary,
this has turned out to be an almost ideal year in the South SOUTH PLATTE RIVER NR. Stream flows 210 FIRST NORTH TIE wATwYEAR
200
continue to be at or above average. 19G90
1.30
With the end of the irrigation season, diversions are 170
now primarily for storage and recharge except for continued 1
60
municipal diversions. Significant recharge has already ' ;3.
occurred along the South Platte due to the good flow Y ;;o
onditions. Storage has began on those tributaries which had g '
Lot already begun storing. Reservoir levels on both the
mainstem and tributaries continue to be at or above average o
for this time of year. 3°
O
20
f 4 r
utlook
OCTOBER 1996 OCT.AVG. This includes Jackson and
Milton Reservoirs, two large reservoirs off the South Platte
mainstem which had been drawn down for repair work.
