BASIN ASSESSMENTS cont. <br /> Colorado <br /> Runoff is forecast to be 75% of average ranging from 60% for the Roaring <br /> Fork River basin to 90% for the upper Colorado River basin. Flow for March at <br /> the key index station, Colorado River near the Colorado-Utah stateline, <br /> averaged 2162 cfs as compared to the normal flow of 3672 cfs. Soil moisture <br /> is classified as being low to very low. <br /> Yampa/White <br /> Runoff is forecast to be 75% of average ranging from 67% for the White <br /> River basin to 80% for the Yampa River basin. Flow for the month of March at <br /> the key index station, White River near Boise, averaged 335 cfs as compared to <br /> the normal flow of 529 cfs. Soil moisture is classified as being fair to low. <br /> San Juan/Dolores <br /> The SWSI value of -3.3 is the lowest in the state and indicates moderate <br /> to severe drought conditions. Runoff is forecast to be 40% of average ranging <br /> from 20% for the Dolores River above McPhee Reservoir to 45% for the Animas <br /> River basin. The flow for the month of March at the key index station, La <br /> Plata River near Hesperus, averaged 5.9 cfs as compared to the normal flow of <br /> 14.9 cfs. Although reservoir storage is only 38% of average, this does not <br /> include storage in McPhee Reservoir which currently is at 274,000 acre-feet. <br /> As McPhee Reservoir did not begin to store water until 1984, there is <br /> insufficient historic record for comparison. Soil moisture is classified as <br /> being very poor to critically low. <br />
