The Soil Conservation s Surface water Supply ndex History <br /> Service reports May 31 snowpack at 180% of normal. Storage in '- <br /> Taylor Park, Crawford, and Fruitland reservoirs totaled 97% of <br /> I. <br /> normal on May 31. The National Weather Service reports May 3 ," ,. :- <br /> precipitation at 139% of normal. Flow at the gaging station - 1 <br /> Uncompahgre River near Ridgway averaged 507 cfs as compared 1 1 - '�" <br /> to the 1961-1991 May average of 316 cfs. A o ) f. <br /> The snowpack remains very high for this time of year. - ii- :=� - ' % ' <br /> Areas with the highest snowpack are Grand Mesa and the Crested '% -r r <br /> Butte area. Most of the snow below 9,000-10,000 feet has melted, a 1 <br /> in <br /> however a significant amount remains above 10,000 feet in <br /> elevation. It appears that streams fed mostly by high elevations -4 l <br /> JAN84 JAN85 JAN86 JAN87 JANB8 JANB9 JAN90 JAN91 JAN92 JAN93 <br /> have not yet peaked for the year. There remains some concern MONTH/YEAR <br /> that such streams may yet have a flooding potential, although that <br /> is highly dependent upon the weather. The snowpack is coming <br /> off nicely so far, with only a few localized problems resulting <br /> from high water.
