STATE OF COLORADO
BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF WATER WELL CONSTRUCTION AND PUMP INSTALLATION CONTRACTORS
Division of Water Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 818
Denver, CO 80203
Phone (303) 866-3581
FAX (303) 866-3589 BOARD POLICY NO. 2008-1
http://www.water.state.co.us/boe
Revoked, Scroll for additional info
No Continuing Education Accreditation
for Post -Attendance Reauests
Bill Ritter. Jr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director, DNR
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Secretary
License renewal or maintenance includes a statutory requirement for the fulfillment of eight (8)
hours continuing education annually and submittal of a Certificate of Completion. The Board
adopted Rules and Regulations for Administration of Licensing, Financial Responsibility,
Continuing Education and Remedial Action (BOE Rules), 2 CCR 402-14 (2004), in part, to
assist in development of the continuing education program. Rule 8 of the BOE Rules explains
the continuing education requirement and accreditation process. Board Policy No. 2004-01,
page 2, number 5 anticipated that the continuing education accreditation committee (CE
committee) would develop "a process for recommending approval of continuing education hours
for post attendance requests". The Board has determined that it will not approve any post -
attendance requests for accreditation as outlined in this policy.
DISCUSSION•
Section 37-91-105(7), C.R.S. (2007), requires that each licensee "complete eight hours of
continuing education training as approved by the Board every year in order to maintain or renew
a license." To provide consistency in evaluating each contractor's fulfillment of the continuing
education requirement, the Board has determined that continuing education course accreditation
will not be awarded for post attendance requests. The Board reasons that only prior approval of
courses for continuing education should be granted so that the program can be noticed and
posted allowing other contractors to have an equal opportunity to attend, compliance with Rule
8.2.5 (sponsor documentation and maintenance of attendance records) can be demonstrated, and
the Board can function more efficiently in evaluating continuing education accreditation requests
for license renewal and maintenance.
TIMOTHY L. DECKER, Montrose; JOSEPH T. BENDER, Arvada, JEFFREY K. CANFIELD, Fort Morgan, GREG NAUGLE, Denver
