An applicant must correctly answer at least seventy percent (70%) of the examination
questions to receive a passing score on the Statutes/Rules Exam. If an applicant for a new,
different or special license fails the Statues/Rules Exam, the applicant must wait 45 days, as
specified in Section 37-91-105(6), C.R.S., to retake the Exam. An applicant for a license
may not take the oral examination administered by the Board of Examiners prior to
successful completion of all written examinations.
The Statutes/Rules Exam covers the statutes and the Water Well Construction Rules in their
current version. If the statutes and/or Water Well Construction Rules are revised and the
Board of Examiners revises the Statutes/Rules Exam to address those revisions, all
applicants for a new well construction and/or pump installation license, a special license, or
a different method of well construction and/or pump installation must take the revised
Statutes/Rules Exam, even if they already have taken a prior version of the Statutes/Rules
Exam.
The intent of this policy is to test each licensed contractor's knowledge of the applicable
statutes and the Water Well Construction Rules as those statutes and Rules evolve. If a
licensed contractor does not apply for a license in a different method of well construction
and/or pump installation or for a special license, that contractor will not be required to take
the Statutes/Rules Exam, unless required by the Board to do so as a condition of
reinstatement of a suspended license.
The effective date of this revised policy is July 1, 2003.
Dated this day of June, 2003
Halsey R. Newmyer, Chairman
Board of Examiners of Water Well Construction
and Pump Installation Contractors
