An applicant for a pump installation license who is seeking a license to install pumps with <br />motors greater than 5 horsepower but less than or equal to 20 horsepower (Rule 8.3b) and/or a <br />license to install pumps with motors greater that 20 horsepower (including vertical turbine . <br />pumps) (Rule 8.3c) must have successfully completed the NGWA "General" examination for <br />pumps and the NGWA examination for pumps with a production rate "greater than 100 gpm". <br />Upon successful completion of all the requirements for obtaining a license to install pumping <br />equipment, the Board will issue a license that reflects the limitation that only pumps with <br />motors greater than 5 horsepower but less than or equal to 20 horsepower, or pumps with <br />motors greater than 20 horsepower, whichever is applicable, can be installed under the license <br />and the pumping system can exceed a production rate of 100 gpm. <br />Upon renewal of the license after the effective date of the revised Water Well Construction <br />Rules, -_the_renewed-license_wilLindiicate that_the installation of numpLmg_systems with_a <br />production rate up to 100 gpm or greater than 100 gpm, whichever is applicable, is authorized <br />under the license. <br />New licenses issued after the effective date of the revised Water Well Construction Rules will <br />reflect the new pump categories developed on the basis of production rate that are stated in the <br />revised Rules and will be consistent with the examinations administered by the NGWA. <br />Renewal of Existine License <br />Current licenses will be renewed with the horsepower limitations currently indicated on the <br />license. A licensee who wishes to change to a category based on production rate must <br />successfully complete the applicable NGWA examinations for that category and all other <br />requirements established by law and in accordance with the Board's procedures for obtaining a <br />license for different type of pump installation. <br />The effective date of this policy is February 1, 2000. <br />Dated this day of April, 2000. <br />Janet <br />Water Well Construction <br />Installation Contractors <br />Ll <br />a <br />a (3,ZM -1 <br />
