be taken to reduce the potential for contamination of near -surface sources of water, and <br />the necessity of proper disinfection of the well after its construction, the Board believes <br />that any contractor licensed to construct wells by a designated method is also qualified to <br />construct gallery -type wells and spring wells. <br />POLICY <br />The Board, having considered the basic qualifications and knowledge of well <br />construction standards necessary for licensure in any one or more designated methods of <br />well construction, and having determined that such qualifications and knowledge are <br />equally applicable to the protection of near -surface sources of water, hereby adopts the <br />followingpolicy regarding the construction of gallery -type wells and spring wells: <br />A contractor licensed in one or more designated methods of water well <br />construction shall also be authorized, without examination, to construct, or have <br />constructed by a person directly employed by him/her, or to supervise the <br />construction of gallery -type wells and spring wells. The contractor is required to <br />comply with all applicable standards for such construction stated on the well <br />permit and approved construction plan, shall adhere to applicable rules and <br />regulations, and is responsible for filing all work reports for such work performed <br />under his/her license. <br />This policy is applicable to only those contractors holding a license in a designated <br />method of well construction and shall not be extended to contractors performing work <br />authorized by a special license that is not issued for the construction of gallery -type and • <br />spring wells.
