The average annual water level change compared to the base year of 1988 over the past nine
years has averaged - 1.11 ft/yr in the floodplains and - 1.69 ft/yr in the tributary valleys.
Water level rises over the past nine years averaged 1.32 ft/yr (about 1 out of 3 records
showing a rise) in the floodplain, and 3.37 ft/yr in the tributary valleys (about 1 in 4 exhibiting
a rise) . Both the tributary valleys and the South Platte floodplain experienced more annual rise
overall in 1997 than in 1996. Annual declines in the tributary valleys and the South Platte
floodplain overall were greater in 1997 than 1996.
The reader is advised that these data are based upon the measurements of only 63 wells.
This represents only 2 to 4 percent of the total nonexempt wells along the South Platte
system between Kassler and the Colorado -Nebraska state line.
7250.cgr - 3 -
