This report represents the results of water level measurements of wells in the Upper Black
Squirrel Creek Designated Ground Water Basin made February 17th, 1999. This project was
done in cooperation with the Upper Black Squirrel Creek Ground Water Management District
and local well owners. Funding for this project was supplied in part from well permit -fees
collected and managed by the Office of the State Engineer as a result of the passage of
Senate Bill 200 during the 1987 legislative session.
A total of 22 wells were measured and recorded, while 26 sites were visited. Changes in
water level from last year's readings for the alluvial aquifer range from a decline of 8.40 feet
in T1 4S, R63W, Sec. 24, to a rise of 4.93 feet in T1 4S, R62W, Sec. 6. The average decline
for the entire basin is 1.87 feet for 1998-1999 measurements as compared to an average
decline of 3.66 feet during the period 1997-1998. A total change for the five-year period of
1994 to 1999 ranges from a decline of 12.80 feet in T13S, R62W, Sec. 7 to a rise of 5.15
feet in T14S, R62W, Sec. 21. The average decline for the last five-year period is 1.13 feet
per year (1994-1999), as compared to an average decline of 0.62 feet/year for the five-year
period (1993-1998).
Results of the measurements of Denver Basin bedrock wells will be published in the annual
! _ report for the bedrock aquifers which will be available by June of this year.
The table of water level measurements included in this report are organized by location.
Information presented includes, location, water levels measured prior to the 1988
measurements made by this office, the 1988 through 1999 measurements and- changes
between 1998/1999 and 199411999. 'Also included are 17 well hydrographs of wells
measured in the basin (with 5 or more years of record). The final two pages of this report are
maps of water level decline from the initial water level measurements to the 1998
measurements, and the 1999 measurements.
Copies of this report are being made available to well owners for their assistance in this
project. Additional reports are available from the Office of the State Engineer, 1313 Sherman
Street, Room 818, Denver, Colorado 80203, for a cost of $3.00.
