Dakota Aquifer
In 2001, water level data indicates sixteen wells completed exclusively in the Dakota aquifer
experienced a decline ranging from -0.10 feet to —2.40 feet as compared to wells declining in
2000 from -0.10 to —8.10. Rises on wells completed in the Dakota Aquifer range from +0.10 feet
to +2.40 feet.
Cheyenne Aquifer
The area of greatest decline in water levels of wells penetrating exclusively the Cheyenne aquifer
was southwest of Springfield where a —5.30 foot decline was recorded in 2001 as compared to a
Cheyenne aquifer maximum decline of —4.20 feet in 2000 northeast of Two Buttes. The range of
decline of the Cheyenne aquifer for 2001 was -0.3 to —5.3 feet. The average 2001 decline was -
2.22 feet as compared to —2.53 feet average decline in 2000. Rises of water levels of Cheyenne
aquifer wells range from +0.20' to +1.30'. In 2001, the average rise equaled +0.77 feet, as
compared to the average rise of +2.95 feet in 2000.
Dockum Aquifer
The Dockum aquifer declines range from -0.40 feet east of Stonington to -11.50 feet of decline
immediately southwest of Stonington (as compared with —6.50 feet decline west of Stonington in
2000). The arithmetic average of Dockum aquifer declines over the entire network was —4.20
feet in 2001 as compared to —3.06 feet in 2000, and as compared to —2.20 in 1999. Seven
Dockum Aquifer wells experienced a rise averaging +5.14 feet.
Dakota/Cheyenne Aquifer
Water level changes in wells producing from a combined Dakota -Cheyenne aquifer range from a
+5.50 foot rise north of Walsh to a —7.9 foot decline northwest of Blaire. The average water level
change of Dakota/Cheyenne aquifer wells measured was +0.79 change in 2001 as compared to
+0.14 average change in 2000.
4698 R. cr - 5 -
