i
0
0
0
•
•
This report presents the results of water level measurements of wells in the
Northern High Plains Designated Ground Water Basin made during the winter of
198811989. The project was done in cooperation with the W -Y, Frenchman, Central
Yuma, Marks Butte, Sand Hills, Arikaree and Plains Management Districts and the local
well owners. Funding for the project was supplied in part from well permit flees collected
and managed by the Office of the State Engineer as a result of the passage of Senate
Bill 200 during the 1987 legislative session.
The report is organized by location within ground water management districts, or
within counties when no management district exists. The tables included contain well
identification, location, owner's name, well elevation, and three measurements: 1) the last
previous measurement to the 1988 measurements; 2) the 1988 measurement and
change in the water level since that measurement; and 3) the measurements and
changes in water level for the winter of 1989. Also included are maps showing the areas
in which declines or increases were noted and changes for the period of 1980 to 1988.
Copies of this report are available for purchase at a cost of $ 5.00 from the office
of the State Engineer. A summary report will be made available to well owners whose
wells were measured as part of the network. The summary reports are available through
the local management districts or through the Office of the State Engineer.
During the winter of 198811989, over 700 well sites were visited and 650 wells
were measured. The following table shows the number of wells in each area and the
name of the individual responsible for the well measurements.
MANAGEMENT
NUMBER OF
NUMBER OF
DISTRICT
WELLS
SITES VISITED
17
MEASURED
PROWERS COUNTY
W -Y
67
84
FRENCHMAN
65
65
CENTRAL YUMA
56
57
MARKS BUTTE
19
21
SAND HILLS
51
54
CAMP CREEK
0
1
ARIKAREE
119
124
PLAINS
172
198
EASTERN CHEYENNE 28
36
NOT IN A DISTRICT
MEASURED BY
Jack Adams
Ben Saunders
Ben Saunders
Ben Saunders
Ben Saunders
Ben Saunders
Darrell Davis
James Hanrahan and
Cliff Hawthorne
James Hanrahan
WASHINGTON COUNTY
36
37
Ben Saunders
LOGAN COUNTY
17
17
Ben Saunders
PROWERS COUNTY
10
12
James Hanrahan
KIOWA COUNTY
10
13
James Hanrahan
• TOTALS
0
650
719
