INTRODUCTION
This report contains the results of water level measurements
of knells in the Northern Nigh Plains Designated Basin made during
the winter of 1990-1791. Date were collected in cooperation with
the W -Y . Frenchman. Central Yuma. Sand H11 Is, Marks Butte, Ari karee
and Rains Ground Mater Management Districts, the U.S. Geological
Survey and local well owners and users. Funding for this project
was supplied in part from well permit fees collected and managed by
the Office of the State Engineer as a result of the passage of
Senate Bill 200 during the 1987 legislative session. This bill
authorized the Office of the State Engineer to establish and
maintain a water level monitoring network; throughout the state to
obtain information on ground water conditions, to establish ground
eater trends and to manage the ground water resources of the state.
The data are tabulated by l oz ation within each around water
management district or within counties where no management district
exists. The appendices contain information concerning well
identification, location, owner's name, land surface elevation,
permit number.. water level data since 1997, remarks and the change
in water le,/el between the 1990 and 1941 measurements. Also
included are representative hydrographs for approximately fi"Ifle
percent (`) of the measured wells along with a location map. Four
hydr ographs are also included in Appendix; L for wells monitored by
the USGS which have continuous recorders installed. In addition a
map showing areas where water levels declined during the last year
is included in Appendix M along with a copy of the comparable map
from last years report.
Copies of this report are available for inspection in the
offices of the local g-ound water management districts as well as
the Office of the State Engineer. Copies can be purchased from the
Office of the State Engineer, ley Sherman Street, Room B'21,
Denver, Colorado 902 ,77�' for a fee of 1-5.00 to cover the cost of
printing and handling. Summary reports will be made available at-
