Water Leel Measurernents in the Southern
High Plains Designated Ground Water District
zoos
This report represents the results of water level measurements of wells in the Southem
High Plains Designated Basin made during the months of February ad March 2006. The project
was done in cooperation with the Southern High Piains Ground Water Management Distrct and
local well owners. Funding for this project was supplied in part from wel permit fees collected and
managed by the Office of the State Engineer as a result o the passage of Senate Biil 200 during
the 1987 legislative session.
In this repo tabular data are presented for each well fvr the preious 10 years. Graphical ---
data are resentedor the entire period of record.
P
A total of 95 well sites were visited with 92 wells being measured, recorded and data
entered. Measurements are availabie for only a very limited number of wells from 2005. A review
vf the 2006 measurements as compared to the 204 measurements reeals that the following
water level changes have occurred since the last complete measurement period:
• Water leels declined in 70 welts as compared to 32 wells in 2DD4
• Water leveis rose in 8 wells as compared to 52 wells in 2004
• Water levels remained cvnstant in 3 we11s as compared to 4 in 204
• The average water level change for all wells in 2006 from 2004 was -3.97 feet,
Six distinct aquifers or aquifer combinations are present within the basin. Aquifer
designations as used in this report are described in Table 1 as follows:
Svmboi
Table 1— Aauifer Descriptions
A r Av e_Sat.
