This report represents water levei measurement data for the Nvrth Kiowa-Bijou Ground
Water Management District for the 1999 season. This project was done in cooperation with
the Management District and with local well owners. Funding for the project is supplied in part
from well permit #ees collected and managed by #he ffice of the 5tate Engineer as a cash
fund designated for use in obtaining ground water informa#ion throughout the s#ate.
A total of 32 wells were measured during the month of April 1998 with 35 well sites
isited. These weNs are all part of the observation well nefinrork that has been measured for
many years. Records on at least one weli date back to '! 93fi. However, most of the weils date
from the 1950's and 19fi0's. Water leel changes between 1998 and 1999 range from a
decline of 4.37 feet in T3S, R63W, Sec 13, to a rise of ,44 feet in T1 S, R60W, Sec 'f 7. The
ten year period from 1990 to 1999 shows a range from a decline of 16.82 feet in T1 S, Rfi2W,
Sec. 2, to a rise of 5.10 feet in T1 N, R61 W, Sec 5. The aerage change for the '! 998 #0 1999
period is a deciine of 0.92 feet compared to a decline of .31 feet between 1997 and 1998.
For the 1990 to 1999 period, the average change has been a decline of 4.47 feet or
approximately .45 feet per year. Generally water levels in the southem half of the basin show
either a steady or siightly rising trend. The northerr half of the basin exhibits deciining water
leels with the greatest declines being in the most northerly portion of the basin.
Information conceming bedrock wells for the Denver Basin Aquifers will be available in
June of this year and can be obtained from the Qffice of #he State Engineer.
Included in this report are water level data from 1988 to 1999 for all the wells in the
monitoring network. Also included are hydrographs of mos# of the wells that contain #he entire
well record.
Copies of this report are being made available to all well owners whose wells were
measured as part of this project. Additional copies of the report can be purchased from the
ffice of the State Engineer.
