WATER LEVELS IN THE ALLUVIAL AQUIFERS F THE
LOWER SDUTH PLATTE RIVER BASIN, CULRAD
Zoo2
The purpose of this report is to proide water level data or the network of monitoring wells within
the Lower South Platte Alluium for the period of Spring of 1988 through the 5pring of 202.
Currently, the network consists of 79 wells. The data presented in this report is a result of
coopera#Fan between wel owners, the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District, and the
Colorad Division of Water Resources. Funding for this project is supplied in part from well permit
fees colfected and managed by the Colorado Division of Water Resources as a resuft of the
passage of 5enate Bi11240 during the 1987 legisfative session.
The following body of this report includes up to 28 water level measurements for each well for the
indicated period in addition to a water lee! measurement taken at the time of construction of the
well, if aailable. Measurements are usually taken fin►ice yearly, typically in the spring before
irrigation pumping commences and in the fall after irrigation pumping has ceased. The
measurement alues in this report are expressed in feet below ground surFace to water surFace
and were obtained utilizing an electric sounder device or steel tape. All measurements were done
by Diision 1 Water Commissioners (DWR} or the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District
CCWC} as indicated for each well. All of the wells are completed in unconsolidated grael, sand,
silt and clay deposits predominantly of alluial origin. The line in the main body of this report
entitled AQUIFER delineates both the geoiogic unit and stream reach for each well as explained
on page 4. Figure 1 is a GiS generated map showing the recorded Iocation of the wells measured
for this report. The South Platte River system is delineated. The recorded outline of the South
Platte River alluial aquifers is depicted in gold.
-1-
