Box 458
Vail, Colorado 81657
(303) 4764111
REC~~~~I~
July 29, 1981
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Gentlemen:
~ III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
~; ' :; - + 1;131

I have recently received notification from Robinson
Brick and Tile Company of their request for permission to
surface mine for clay on ChieftaLn South Mine, Section 24
& 25, Township 4 South, Range 70 West, 6th P.M., Jeffer-
son County, Colorado.
This area has been the sub,Ject of substantial re-
sidential construction during the past five years and St
is reasonable to expect that the entire area shall be
used for residential purposes during the next five years.
Uses such as purposed by Robinson Brick are Sncompatible
with the public welfare and represent an extremely dan-
gerous attractive nuisance to the increasing number of
children living nearby. Further, such operations as con-
templated by Robinson Brick represent an everpresent
health hazard to nearby residents. These residents will
furthermore be subjected to noise, smoke, and dust re-
sulting from such operations, as xell as the constant im-
pact of extraction equipment and removal trucks resulting
In property damage from such vibrations and less than pro-
per living conditions. This land is adJacent to the cur-
rently metropolitan area and uses lnconsistant with it's
residential use must be prohibited.
of the neighborhood.
Robinson Brick's right to use the land must give way
to the public's right to safe and. proper residential con-
ditions and I urge you to reJect the application and pro-
hibit any use inconsistant with the residential character
Sl~ely yo~urs,1
Marvin B.
