The decision date for the application is
April 24, 2013. The application proposes to mine the 9.9 acres in Section 22, Township 7 North,
and Range 47 West
Please be advised that if you are unable to satisfactorily address any concern identified in the
review before the decision date, of April 24, 2013, your application will be denied unless a
written request to extend the decision date is received.
6.3.3 Exhibit "C" Mining Plan
6.3.4 Exhibit "E" Reclamation Plan
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
1) Are there plans to mine the creek channel or will all the mining be limited to bank
slopes? It is not clear from the narrative if the operator intends to mine in the channel
bottom. If the channel bottom is going to be mined, additional protection such as
armoring the downstream side will need to be implemented to avoid impacts to the
channel downstream. The operator lists the depth of the aggregate in the channel
bottom to be between three to four feet thick. Even though the channel flows in
conjunction with heavy precipitation events, those events can sometimes be erosive
and possibly impact the channel downstream. Please provide the measures that will be
taken to limit impact to the channel during mining.
1) Under the exhibit the operator mentions the fact that the stream banks will be
reclaimed to 3:1 slope. However there is no mention of of channel restoration if mining
is going to take place in the stream channel. Please explain
Denver • Grand Junction • Durango
Office of
Active and Inactive Mines
