The
release concerns 94.12 acres containing two groundwater lakes with surface areas of approximately 37.3 and 25.4
acres, also known as Trieber Lakes A and B. All marketable material has been removed from the subject 94.12
acres. The City of Greeley has obtained DRMS Permit No. M- 2011 -049 in order to reclaim the site to a developed
water resource (water storage reservoirs). The City of Greeley is currently responsible for augmenting all
depletions from Treiber Lakes A and B. The City of Greeley intends to construct a slurry wall or other form of liner
around the two lakes to create a relatively impermeable barrier between the alluvial ground water and the
reservoirs. Until such time as the slurry wall has been constructed in accordance with the State Engineer's Lining
Criteria and approved by the Division 1 Office, depletions from Treiber Lakes A and will be replaced under a
substitute water supply plan. The Partners Combined Substitute Water Supply Plan, which includes Treiber Lakes
A and B and references the Home Office Pit. is currently valid through December 31, 2013. If a liner is not
approved prior to the expiration date of this SWSP, a new SWSP or a renewal of the existing SWSP must be
obtained by the City of Greeley.
Accordingly, the State Engineer's Office is of the opinion that the acreage release for the subject 94.12 acre
portion of the Home Office Pit is acceptable and recommends approval.
The applicant may contact the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303 -866 -3581 • Fax: 303 - 866 -3589
www.water. state.co.us
