Dear Mr. Holder:
For approximately seven and one-half months of 1982, the
Climax Mine operated at about 31,300 tons per day, initially
on a seven-day and later, a five-day schedule. The average
total work force during that time period was about 1600
people. From the end of September 1982 , to the end of the
year, employment averaged 354 people. Presently, it is
planned that approximately 262 full-time employees will
maintain a reduced level of operation throughout 1983. The
Grade 1 and Grade B molybdenum concentration circuits
continue producing at the rate of approximately 21,000 pounds
per day on a seven-day schedule to fulfill demand for that
product. Ongoing construction projects include:
1. The East Tailing Delivery Line Project which includes
installation of a new camp tailing line to route tailing
to a new tailing distribution house located just north
of the gatehouse (see map) . The old tailing
distribution house was torn down and the area regraded.
2. The Mill Cyclone Expansion Project, which consists of
replacing and upgrading the mill cyclone pumping system
to obtain greater efficiency.
3. The Storke Level Wastewater Plant Project, which
consists of constructing new concrete lined settling
ponds and pumping facilities to handle waste water and
industrial runoff from the Storke Level.
