You
indicated that the WQCD asked DMG to assume regulatory
responsibility for the groundwater wells in the Tenmile Drainage.
The Climax Mine is currently in receipt of a draft Colorado
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (CPDES) Permit that
retains regulatory control of Groundwater Monitoring Wells 1 and
2 . This permit will be a renewal of the 1988 permit. Until such
time as we have negotiated the terms of the Climax Groundwater
Monitoring Plan (outlined in a letter from Mr. Jay Jones to Mr.
Bruce Humphries on August 31, 1993) , Climax will continue to meet
the requirements for groundwater monitoring specified in the
Climax CPDES Permit (No. CO-0000248, 1988, Part I.A. 5) .
Please feel free to contact me with comments or questions.
Sincerely,
i
Bryce R.
