These modifications are subject to
Division review because the 4-Dam seep water return system is an
Environmental Protection Facility as defined in the Hard Rock/Metal Mining
Rules and Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
The Division is not going to specifically address seepage control measures
related to the routing of the seep water pipeline through 4-Dam because
this aspect of the plan is subject to review by the State Engineer.
However, the Division will require that additional detail be provided
regarding that aspect of the plan whereby the gravel pipe bedding at each
end of the 4-Dam embankment will be hydraulically connected. Please
provide a detail drawing and sufficient narrative to describe how the
hydraulic connection will be accomplished while providing reliable
containment of seep water that may leak from the primary pipeline.
No other concerns were identified in the Division' s review of the proposed
plan, so once the details of the leak collection system passing through
4-Dam are reviewed and accepted by the Division, the project may proceed.
A certification report will have to be review and accepted by the Division
prior to initial utilization of the new seep water return system.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Allen C. Sorenson
Reclamation Specialist
C:\WP51\CLIMAX.4DM
