RE: Annual Report,Coal Basin Mine Noxious Weed Management Grant
Dear Mr.Lane:
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is pleased to submit its second,and final,annual report for
the Coal Basin Mine Noxious Weed Management Grant.
The Division,in partnership with Pitkin County,the Office of Surface Mining,The Aspen Wilderness
Workshop and the U. S.Forest Service received a Noxious Weed Control Grant from the Colorado
Department of Agriculture in February, 1998.
During the past two field seasons,the grant partners accomplished a significant amount of weed control
work at Coal Basin. Infestations were mapped,permanent reference areas were established and monitored
and infestation treatment was accomplished. More work remains to be accomplished in the future,
however.
On behalf of all of the Coal Basin Mine Noxious Weed Management Partners,we wish to express our
gratitude to the Colorado Department of Agriculture for the provision of funds which made the work
accomplished possible.
