To Whom It May Concern:
Sincerely,
—Alex and Kelly Kurz
350 County Road 16 1
Longmont, CO 80504
4
• f- ZDag=oDr
September 10, 2012
This letter is in regards to the amendment application that Asphalt Specialties Co., Inc.
has submitted for the Turnpike Mining Resource. We were not actually contacted by
Asphalt Specialties about their request to prolong the already lengthy reclamation
project, but our neighbors were. Our home actually sits much closer to the mine than
the neighbors contacted. I have lived in this area for 38 years. My husband and I
chose to build a home overlooking the "bottom land" two years ago. One reason we
made that choice is because Asphalt Specialties was to be completed with their
reclamation process in the next few years. The size of the dirt hills, the new shale hill and
the utter mess of the land is an eye sore. It has made property values decrease. We
are saddened that Asphalt Specialties would even think it would be ok to continue to
put off the reclamation we have all been promised.
We ask that you please consider all of the homeowners who have acted in good faith
with building and moving to this area as you make your decisions about how to
proceed. Thank you very much for your time in reading this. Please contact us at
(720)231 -8440 with any questions or concerns.
RECEIVED
S EP 12 2012
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
