The Office of Surface Mining (OSM)
requests additional information regarding Colowyo Coal Company, LLC's (CCC) application for
a permit revision (PR3). On August 3, 2012, the Division forwarded OSM's letter to Kurtis
Blunt and Juan Garcia of CCC. OSM identified four items that needed additional information.
Bullet No. 1: identified water depletion volume estimates and payment of fees. CCC forwarded
information regarding the water depletion fees on August 7, 2012. Please find this information
provided by CCC enclosed with this letter.
Bullet No. 2: Bullet No. 2, OSM requests information regarding potential loss of vegetation
types as a result of the proposed mine plan. This item was previously asked by USFWS in a
letter dated February 22, 2011, to Kurt Blunt of Colowyo Coal Company. Colowyo believes this
concern was addressed in Colowyo's responses to USFWS and CPW (formerly CDOW).
