Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (Division) received Bowie Resources' application
for the referenced revision on June 25, 2012. The revision was deemed complete on June 26, 2012
and revised decision date is July 19, 2012. The Division's comments to BRL's MR -131 application
are below.
1. The newly revised page EXH. 8 -291 does not coincide with the currently approved page. The
currently approved pages EXH. 8 -29 and 8 -291 have ditches C10 and CI I at the bottom of
page 8 -29, and CI I and C12 at the top of page 8 -291. The new page 8 -291 starts off with
C13, so C12 is omitted. Please revise page 8 -291 to include C12.
2. The rip rap sizing calculations on pages EXH. 8 -252 and EXH. 8 -253, resulting in a required
D50 of 0.83' for Ditch D3 -1 and D3 -2 and 1.17' for Ditch D -3 -3 appear to be in error. Using
the same equation, DRMS calculations show a required D50 of 1.64 for Ditch D3 -1 and D3 -2
and 2.55' for Ditch D3 -3. Please review the calculation to verify and correct the calculations
and revise the pages accordingly.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Brock F.
