MINE ENGINEERING
MINE RECLAMATION
May 22, 2012
Brock Bowles
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine
Technical Revision #72, Expand Gob Pile #2 to the west
Adequacy Response #1
Permit C- 1996 -083
Dear Mr. Bowles:
BOW -2: Please see revised Page 1.
J. E. STOVER & ASSOCIATES, INC.
2352 NORTH 7 STREEET, UNIT B
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO 81501
PHONE: (970) 245 -4101, FAX 242 -7908
MAY 2 2012
Dlv►$IOn orK d Safety
n,
Mining
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONST. MANAGEMENT
The DRMS' letter dated April 4, 2012 requested additional information. On behalf of Bowie
Resources, LLC, enclosed is the requested data.
1. DRMS: On the application form, a change in permit area of 1.8 acres is proposed. This may
be a typo and was supposed to be a 1.8 acres change in disturbed area. Please correct this
change in permit acreage.
BOW -2: Please see the attached revised application form. The correct acreages should be
1.8 acres in additional disturbed and affected area since the area has not been undermined.
2. DRMS: In the text of Volume IX, the Introduction section beginning on page 1 is somewhat
confusing, and partially obsolete. The tenses are contradictory, and the chronology is difficult to
follow. Please re -write the second paragraph on page 1 to clearly communicate the
history of development of Coal Mine Waste Disposal Areas 1, 2 and 4.
3. DRMS: In the proposed application, the revised reclamation section of Volume IX, page 11 ,
states that "31 acres of the gob pile ... will need to be revegetated." The current permit (same
section an page number) states that "37 acres of the. gob pile need to be revegetated." The
reduction of 6 acres that need to be revegetated is not reflected in the 2010 or 2011 Annual
Reclamation Reports as Phase I, II or III bond released. Please clarify /explain the reduction
in acres that need to be revegetated.
BOW -2: Please see revised page 11, correct acreage should be 37 acres.
4. DRMS: In Appendix A of the proposed revision - Coal Mine Waste Disposal Area Table, the
topsoil volumes (cy) in the reclamation volumes section are incorrect. The total for this column
in the proposal is 54,203 which is the same value as the current Appendix A without the gob #2
