Special Use Permit No. 1990 -016) allowing Natural
Deposits Extraction and Processing of sand and gravel in an A -1, Agricultural (minimum
35 acre) Zone District and S -1, Public Use Zone District.
Ms. Sonia Stephens:
The Department of Planning and Development during a review of the Mined Land Reclamation
Board Agenda Report for period 3/1/2012 through 3/31/2012 noticed that LAFARGE WEST has
requested from the Colorado Division Reclamation, Mining & Safety (DRMS) to withdraw the
Temporary Cessation to enter into final reclamation of State Pit, Permit No. M1990112.
Special Use Permit No. 709 (also known as Special Use Permit No. 1990 -016) was originally
approved by the Pueblo County Planning Commission on September 25, 1990 for natural
deposits extraction and processing of sand and gravel in the A -1, Agricultural (minimum 35
acres) Zone District and S -1, Public Use Zone District. Upon full reclamation responsibility
release by the DRMS the special use permit should be rescinded due to mining activity no
longer taking place on the property.
Upon approval of the release by the Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety the property
owner can submit a request to rescind Special Use Permit No. 709 along with a copy of the
approved release.
