Hernandez, Alysha
From:
Burgmaier, Susan
Sent:
Thursday, January 05, 2012 4:21 PM
To:
Bowles, Brock
Cc:
Brown, Sandy; Hernandez, Alysha
Subject:
Bowie, MR -128 Adequacy Review
Brock— I reviewed MR -128 for adequacy of the surface water protection and sediment control plan. The previously
approved plan for the Terror Creek vent shaft included designs for a small area exemption for the disturbance associated
with the shaft pad. The Sedcad designs provided with the plan were based on a 0.50 acre disturbance. I digitized the
disturbance boundary for the as -built pad and came up with 0.48 acres. Since the original design was conservative in
acreage, the expanded as -built pad is still within the limits for the berm and silt fence design. Accordingly, I do not have
any concerns with the surface water control plan for the Terror Creek vent shaft pad as constructed. Please let me know
if you or the operator have questions or need additional information.
Susan L. The application was received on December 27, 2011. Bowie, LLC. is
proposing to incorporate as -built contours for the Terror Creek vent shaft site, approve permit text
and a site reclamation plan. The Terror Creek vent shaft site was approved in TR -67 (September
20, 2010).
A copy of MR -128, revised map -42 and new map 18 -2 is available in my office or an electronic
version is available on the share drive at M: \Coal \bfb \Bowie MR -128.
Please notice that the pad size on Map -42 has increased in MR -128.
I will deem the application complete on Friday January 6, 2012 and the decision date will be
January 16, 2012. I would like to have your technical adequacy review completed no later than
January 13, 2012. Please let me know if your require any additional information.
Thank you for your assistance.
Brock Bowles
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
303 - 866 -3567 x -8142
