I raised two concerns about
the currently suggested standard:
1. The proposed forage quality standard for the dryland pasture is: 75% of the production will
be forage quality/ seeded species (as outlined in the PAP). My question to him was what
species will comprise the remaining 25 %? He suggested 10% max allowable production by
annuals/ biennials and the remaining 15% will consist of perennial species that do not meet
the forage quality standard and are also not weeds. He needs to check the data to confirm if
this is possible.
2. By the currently proposed standard, a monoculture would satisfy the requirements. As this
is not desirable, Kent suggested a 60% max allowable production by a single species.
Kent is going to check the data to determine if these suggestions are possible. He will get back to
me early next week. I will be checking email and phone messages while I am in SLC and will keep
you updated.
Alysha, Please scan into Laserfiche for New Horizon North (C- 2010 -089) under application
correspondence.
