0 ARCADIS
Mr. Timm Comer
Manager, Environmental Resources
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
P.O. Box 191
100 North 3rd Street
Victor, Colorado 80860
RE: Mine Life Extension 2 Carrying Capacity
Dear Mr. Comer:
This letter is submitted in response to a request made by Cripple Creek & Victor
Mining Company (CC &V) for ARCADIS U.S., Inc (ARCADIS) to determine rangeland
carrying capacity for lands within the Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2 Project
Area in Teller County, Colorado. The Project Area encompasses approximately 420
acres as defined in the ARCADIS Baseline Technical Report for Soils and Biological
Resources dated October 2011.
Baseline evaluation of the Project Area identified the extents of seven soil map units.
National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) soil survey data for Teller County
provides estimates of range vegetative productivity for normal growing years in terms
of pounds per acre of air -dry vegetation for all soil units within the Project Area,
except unit Sz (Seitz very gravelly loam, 20 to 50 percent slopes). Vegetative
productivity for this soil map unit is assumed to be similar to soil map unit RgR
(Rogert-Rock outcrop complex, 20 to 60 percent slopes) based on field observations
of similar soil characteristics and vegetation communities.
Based on NRCS productivity estimates, a range proper use factor of 50 percent,
grazing efficiency of 50 percent and an Animal Unit Month (AUM) requirement of 900
pounds of forage per AUM, the total number of acres per AUM for each soil map unit
are as follows: CQ — 1.8 acres per AUM; EB — 4.0 acres per AUM; Rg and RI — 5.2
acres per AUM; and RgR and Sz — 7.8 acres per AUM.
If you have any questions regarding the carrying capacity estimates provided herein,
please contact me at 303 - 471 -3438.
Sincerely,
 --A YC(:T
ARCADIS U.S., Inc.
Jerry H.
