Bowie is expanding its mine plan to the north and has applied for a lease <br />modification so it can mine four additional longwall panels. This technical revision will allow <br />north mains and gate road development within the approved permit boundary. A permit revision <br />will be submitted to expand the permit boundary to encompass the four longwall panels (B19, <br />B20, B21 and B22) to the north shortly before the lease modifications are approved. <br />The long term mine plan area is shown on Map 14 -B. Projections shown in grey are long term <br />projections and are not part of this technical revision. The total affected area increases 100 <br />acres from 5156 to 5256 acres. <br />The proposed mining is all within the approved permit boundary and on federal coal leases held <br />by Bowie. <br />Cultural resource surveys of the projected mining area are located in Volume VI, items 16 and <br />17. No soils or vegetation data are provided since there is no surface disturbance. <br />Page 2.05 -8 was amended to briefly discuss the revised mine plan. <br />Sincerely, <br />J. E.
