FAX NO.: 925/284 -3065
FROM: Allen Sorenson
MESSAGE TO RECIPIENT:
John,
With the difficulty we've had connecting on the phone, and looking at my schedule
for the next two weeks when I will be out of the office much of the time, I thought
I could fax you the information you requested on Climax Mine status.
Activities that have been conducted since the update I provided in February 2001:
1. Water management and treatment in compliance with NPDES permits.
2. Grading, seeding and fertilizing in eleven separate areas of the mine property
in compliance with mined land reclamation permit. Also planted 8000 tree and
shrub seedlings.
3. Application of limestone and biosolids on the rock capped areas of Robinson
and Mayflower tailing ponds. The Climax Mine Revegetation Biosolids
Partnership received a national award from EPA during 2001 for this work.
4. Initiated a rigorous site wide weed control program.
5. Continued dust control operations on the uncapped portions of the tailing
ponds.
6. Upgraded the seepage cutoff facility and pump back station below the
Robinson process water pond.
7. Replaced the process water pipeline that transports water collected at 5 -shaft
and the Storke Yard up to the treatment facilities at Climax Camp.
Bill Owens
Governor
If you have any questions, you can reach me at 303/866 -4063.
-Allen
DATE: 4/2/05 NUMBER OF PAGES TO FOLLOW: 0
PROGRAM: MINS.
