Fairbanks Pit, Permit No. M-2003-058 (CHS #41585)
Dear Mr. Hays:
Thank you for your correspondence dated September 14, 2011 (received by our office on
September 16, 2011) regarding the subject project.
A search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory database indicated that no cultural
resource inventories have been conducted in the vicinity of the proposed permit area, and no
historic properties have been recorded therein. Our files contain incomplete information for
this area, as most of Colorado has not yet been inventoried for cultural resources. As a result,
there is the possibility that as yet unidentified cultural resources exist within the proposed
permit area. Also, we would greatly appreciate if on future correspondence that you
adequately describe and show (on the project map) the area of potential effect.
Should human remains be discovered during mining activities, the requirements under State law
CRS 24 -80 part 13 apply and must be followed.
Thank you for the opportunity to co nt. If we may be of further assistance, please contact
Mark Tobias, Section 106 Compliance I?iager, at (303) 866 -4674 or mark.tobias @state.co.us.
Sincerely,
P a/ Edward C.
