AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
2311 River Road • P.O. Box 1849 • Grand Junction, Colorado 81502 • 970/245 -9301 • FAX 970/243 -6703
September 9, 2011
Mr. Travis Marshall
Environmental Protection Specialist /
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety /
101 South 3 Street, Suite 301
Grand Junction, Co. 81501
Re: Gunnison River Gravel Pits, Permit No. M- 2009 -048 7_
Dear Mr. Marshall,
We are requesting a Technical Amendment to the above permit regarding the substitute
water supply plan.
In order to satisfy the "walk- away" provision of the Substitute Water Supply Plan for Pit
No. 1 and 5 of the Gunnison River Gravel Pit prepared by Western Water and Land Inc.,
Grand Junction Pipe is required to bond for the purchase of 218 acre feet of water. This
water would be used for replacement water to offset out -of- priority depletions caused by
the excavation filling under the "walk- away" scenario. See page 11 of the attached
Substitute Water Supply Plan. The current water rate to purchase water from the Blue
Mesa Reservoir is $ 84.38 per acre -foot. This would be an increase in the bond amount of
$ 18,394.84.
Please send us a letter to be submitted to the bonding company requesting this increase in
the bond amount. A copy of the Substitute Water Supply Plan approved by the Office of
the State Engineer is attached for your records. A check in the amount of $ 216.00 is
enclosed for the TR fee.
If you have any questions or you need any additional information, please contact me.
Singerely,
Grand Junction Concrete Pipe Company r r y
Ivan D.
