August 29, 2011
Mr. Michael Cunningham
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Cunningham,
Union Milling Company (UMC) is requesting an additional extension of the review period to September
9, 2011, for Permit M1990 -057 Technical Revision #3 (TR). As you know, UMC has received approval
of the Conditional Use Permit from Lake County Planning Commissioners last Monday, August 22, 2011.
This approval includes several conditions approved by the Planning Commission which require minor
changes to the TR. These changes include; incorporation of parking areas, connecting to the Leadville
Sanitation District sewage line, "virtual darkness" lighting and similar items.
This extension request is to allow UMC sufficient time to update the TR accordingly and in addition,
address regulatory issues submitted by your office. UMC is meeting with the County Commissioners on
September 8, 2011 to vote on the Planning Commissioner's recommendation to approve on the CUP.
Please contact me directly for additional information or clarification to this document. I may be reached
at 303 - 638 -2573, melder @unionmilling.com, or PO Box 36099, Denver, CO 80236 -0099.
Sincerely,
b-
Re: Permit M1990 -057, Technical Revision #3, Extension for Review
Michael Elder
Environmental Compliance and Permitting
Union Milling Company, LLC
Cc: Robert Calder — Hopemore Shaft
Tom Hendricks — Calais Resources Colorado, Inc.
The Union Milling Company
6200 S.
