The proposal would remove approximately 3 acres
from_future mining and designate the_same acreage to he rnined.adjacent to.the_current
mining operations in the northwest area of the mine permit as shown on photos 1 and 2.
Total acreage of the quarry would remain at 58.75 acres. All affected land is owned by
LJS LLC. Stone Wholesale, Inc. is the mine operator also owned by LJS LLC.
RECFI V-
JUL 11 2011
,/Division of ► eclamati
Mining and Safety
Photo 1
This is the acreage proposed to be mined under the revision. The area is a rectangle about
145 feet wide, west to east. It is approximately 875 feet long south to north, totaling 3.02
acres. It is adjacent to the north end of the most active current quarry area. By extending
and continuing to the north from the current area would allow the most efficient
concurrent mining to occur.
Mining would continue by allowing the operator to move stockpiled topsoil to the south
and western edge of current quarry operation for final grading. This material will be
stabilized and seeded with annual rye grass during temporary storage period. Overburden
from proposed area will be pushed into mined out areas and contoured to final grade, no
less then 2:1 slope. Topsoil stored on the western edge of area will then be spread on top
of the contoured areas prior to seeding with previously approved seed mix. A mine haul
road will be maintained through the reclaimed areas to access the proposed area and plant
operations in the south part of quarry. The last area in the proposed acreage will be
reclaimed with fill material currently unsorted and stored on the eastern edge of the
quarry Mining of proposed area would allow Stone Wholesale, Inc. to utilize overburden
closest to the active mining, speeding up the reclamation process. In addition, hauling of
burden to east edge of quarry for storage would be reduced significantly and mitigate
offsite fugitive dust. Temporary seeding of topsoil on the west would reduce dust issues
in the quarry from prevailing northwestern winds. Life of the mine would be unaffected
by this proposal.
