With the mine in the
beginning stages the area was cleared in preparation for an initial blast. On March 7,
2011 the first blast took place. This blast was to develop the face of the high wall. We
began mining gypsum in March all the way till June 15, 2011. We mined 17,654st during
this time frame, and as of June 28, 2011 only 248st has been delivered to the plant site. .
We are currently working with DOT to get a permit to remove the gypsum, and we are
expecting the gypsum to be removed from Salt Canyon by Dec 31, 2011.
We have currently ceased mining operations at the Salt Canyon Project. We are
looking at doing more core hole drilling in an effort to find a good gypsum deposit. We
will need to determine the quality of gypsum going further to insure we are mining in the
correct location.
The initial area mined is still in portions of the initial phase one and two of the original
permit. The area on the map in blue is the blasted and mined area and will not go any
further this year. This will not exceed our ten acre original limit for this year. The work in
this area is buffered from view of the patrons along Hwy. 115 by the initial phase four
area that runs parallel to the highway.
