Scott, Environmental Protection Specialist <br />RE: Lafarge West, Inc., North Taft Hill Expansion Site, File No. M,/-2001-051, Requ?for <br />Extension of Temporary Cessation Status <br />This letter is to inform Counties and Municipalities within two miles of a mining operation of the intent of <br />the operators to put their mining operation into a state of temporary cessation. This letter is sent pursuant to <br />the requirement of Rule 1.13.6 of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board. <br />Please be advised that Lafarge West, Inc., whose address and telephone number are: 10170 Church Ranch <br />Way, Ste. 200, Westminster CO 80021; (303) 657-4579, has filed a Notice of Temporary Cessation with the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety for the North Taft Hill Expansion Site mining operation. The <br />mining operation is located at or near Section 33, Township 8N, Range 69W, 06th Prime Meridian, in <br />Larimer County. <br />The period of temporary cessation will begin on June 20, 2011 and may last for up to five years from that <br />date. The notice submitted to the Division contains information pertaining to the reasons for cessation of the <br />mining operation, a plan for resumption, and the measures taken to comply with reclamation and other <br />necessary activities related to the performance standards of Rule 3 of the Rules and Regulations in order to <br />maintain the mine in a non-producing or non-development state. <br />The receipt of the Notice of Temporary Cessation will be acknowledged in the monthly activity report <br />attached to the agenda, and approved as a consent agenda item, at the June meeting of the Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board unless one or more of the following conditions occurs: <br />1. Reclamation or performance standard issues are indicated in the Notice of Temporary <br />Cessation. <br />2. Such issues are indicated by a field inspection of the site. <br />3. Such issues are indicated by a review of the site file. <br />4. Concerns are expressed regarding the Notice of Temporary Cessation by interested persons. <br />If one or more of the above conditions occurs, the Division will place the Notice of Temporary Cessation on <br />the agenda for the June or July meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. During that meeting, the <br />Board would consider whether or not to accept the Notice.
