The pit has been inactive since March 2005. The first Temporary Cessation period
was approved by the Division on June 20, 2006.
Lafarge ceased operations at this site due to a lack of market demand. Our mining at Overland Ponds
has recently increased and we anticipate resuming operations at the North Taft Hill Expansion site
within 5 years. During this period of inactivity, the site will be maintained and monitored. Any
reclamation/site maintenance activities will be accomplished according to the approved reclamation
plan. Lafarge continuously monitors the site and performs maintenance activities to ensure minimal
erosion and to eradicate any weeds. The site is in crop production. No mining activity will be initiated
on site without first notifying the Division that mining activities have resumed.
A financial warranty that adequately covers the approved reclamation costs is in place and registered
under Bond No. 6154862 and under Safeco Insurance Company of America. Enclosed is a check in the
amount $144.00 to cover the Notice of Temporary Cessation fee. Please feel free to contact me at your
earliest convenience. I maybe reached at (303) 653-4101.
Sincerely,
Anne Best Johnso CP
Land Manager
LAFARGE WEST, INC.
11409 Business Park Circle, Suite 200 Longmont, Colorado 80504
Telephone: (303) 684-2307 Facsimile: (303) 684-2327
