Permit # M-2007-087
Oond Reduction request
This letter is a formal request for a bond reduction at the
above referenced mine. Reclamation at this site calls for
backfilling the excavated area with clean fill and was to be
accomplished in 2 stages. The first was to fill in the lake area
created during mining to a level at least 2 feet above the normal
ground water level. The second stage was to complete filling the
site to an elevation of 5107 creating a level area suitable of later
development as a commercial building site.
The current bond includes the cost to import and backfill the
water area in the amount of $351,129 plus indirect costs. At this
time there is no exposed ground water on the mine site and we feel
it appropriate to remove the backfilling component of the bond since
is no longer needed. There is still backfilling required to complete
the reclamation. But as approved in the plan, only the backfilling
of exposed water was bonded since the land could be reclaimed and
become usable if the entire site were not backfilled as we proposed.
Covering the exposed ground water eliminated the need for a water
augmentation plan at this site too.
Attached is a cost estimate based on the original Cost Summary
Form for your review.
