No increase in disturbance
will occur as all work is underground.
Mining is proposed in the Allen seam north of the slopes. In this area development only mining
will occur. No secondary pillar recovery is planned. Concurrently, development mining is
proposed in the Apache seam south of the slopes. Once the Apache seam mining crosses the
old Allen works a small panel is proposed that will include secondary mining of pillars. Full
development of mains to the south from the slope bottom area requires a minor adjustment to
the permit boundary of 22.5 acres.
The coal in the permit area is leased from the Division of Wildlife (DOW) as established in
Exhibit 34. The surface in the permit area is owned by New Elk Coal Company and the DOW.
Exhibits and maps submitted and under review as part of permit revision PR02 are referenced
in the permit pages attached to this application.
