All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules and <br />Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining initiate from this date of <br />filing. <br />New Elk Coal Company is requesting approval of a mine plan to extract coal from the Apache coal seam <br />and the Allen coal seam to the southeast of the mine facility under the Bosque del Oso State Wildlife <br />Area. The surface and the coal in the proposed expansion area is owned by the Division of Wildlife. The <br />Underground coal mining operation is located approximately 25 miles West of Trinidad, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: T33S, R68W, Portions of Sections 24, 25 and 26. All <br />sections are partially or fully projected by New Elk Coal Company due to the unsurveyed nature of the <br />Maxwell Land Grant. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute <br />Quadrangle maps of Stonewall, Tercio, and Vigil. _ <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County <br />Commissioners.
