J. MANAGEMENT
ner "I
tjov 0 8 2010
fiArjnk,,,g 2r: c!. 3!4 n I
The DRMS' letter dated August 2, 2010 transmitted its third adequacy review for the referenced
permit revision. In its August 5, 2010 response, Bowie Resources, LLC, ("BRL") did not respond
to item 51 regarding ground water monitoring and did not fully respond to item 89 regarding
cultural resources.. On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, ("BRL") following are its remaining
responses for PR-12. BRL changed the orientation of its longwall panels. Therefore,
appropriate maps are provided that show the new mine plan orientation.
51. BRL responded to the DRMS' letterdated August 2, 2010 by reviewing the existing Bowie
No. 1 Mine monitoring wells to determine if any were suitable for baseline monitoring. Two
were identified CWI-DH-58 and CWI-DH-60.
CWI-DH-58 was perforated at eight different intervals with the second from the top
perforation being the upper B-Seam which made its use as a monitoring well questionable.
However this well was reported as historically dry. BRL removed tubing from the well and
confirmed historic monitoring results. The B-Seam and the perforated interval above the B-
Seam are dry.
CWI-DH-60 was perforated at six different intervals with the top perforation being the upper
B-Seam which made its use as a monitoring well questionable. Since the target monitoring
zone was the B-Seam and above, the Applicant cemented CWI-DH-60 from the bottom of
the well to the bottom of the B-Seam in September 2010. Based on monitoring after the
cement job, the B-Seam is dry at this location.
This information was incorporated into the permit on pages 2.04-32 and 32i. The discussion
on page 2.04-32 regarding Terror Creek monitoring wells TC-03-01, TC-03-02 and TC-03-03
was expanded.
Pages 2.05-115 and 116 were revised to demonstrate the Rollins Sandstone will not be
impacted by mining in the west expansion area. Drill hole CWI-DH-62 located in the
west mine area has 9 feet of mudstone, 60 feet of sandy mudstone, 15.5 feet of
