DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Response to Reclamation Permit Application ConsideratioWrector/State Engineer
DATE: October 12, 2010
TO: Eric C. Scott, Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Division 1 Office, District 4 Water Commissioner
FROM: loana Comaniciu, P.E.
RE: Loveland Pit (Reichert), Permit No. M-2000-034
Operator: Lafarge West, Inc.
Contact: Lafarge West, Inc. -303-657-4579
Section 24, Twp 5 North, Rng 69 West, 6th P.M., Larimer County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
Lafarge West, Inc. requested partial acreage release for the Loveland Pit (Reichert), Permit No.
M2000-034. More specifically Lafarge requested the acreage release for the Reichert Parcel
(Phase 1 Mining Area) and Phase 2 Mining Area as identified in the attached map.
According to the information provided, there has been no mining activity at the Loveland Pit site
since June 2002 and Lafarge West, Inc. does not intend to resume mining operations due to a
lack of demand in this area. Thus no water surface acreage will be exposed at the site and the
area that was already exposed prior to January 1, 1981 was backfilled. The post-pumping
depletions from the Loveland Pit site that occurred through March 2004 have been replaced.
Accordingly, the State Engineer's Office is of the opinion that the acreage release for the
Reichert Parcel (Phase 1 Mining Area) and Phase 2 Mining Area is acceptable and
recommends approval.
The applicant may contact the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
1:??
