(MCC), to construct 3 drill pads, <br />0.55 miles of new temporary road, and drill 5 methane drainage wells (MDWs) east of Somerset, <br />CO within Box Canyon (see attached map). <br />By venting underground methane gas, these MDWs will help MCC maintain safe underground <br />opefatingconditions. The proposed-drill pad iocations are within-T-. 13 S-R: 90 W:; 6t' PM, <br />Section 14. MCC will require a location specific exception to a lease stipulation (no surface <br />occupancy within riparian areas) in order to perform construction and drilling activities in this <br />location. <br />Surface disturbance for the construction of the 3 drill pads and associated access roads is <br />expected to be a maximum of 3.5 acres. Construction and drilling is expected during the fall of <br />2005 and possibly summer of 2006. The operating life of each MDW is estimated to be equal to <br />or less than 5 years, after which the well, drill pad, and associated access road(s) will be <br />reclaimed. <br />The GMUG will be conducting an environmental analysis in accordance with the National <br />Environmental Policy Act on this proposal.
