Everist, Inc. Lohmann Sand & Gravel, M-2001-017 - As-Built drawing of French pit
Dear Mr. Kimmi,
L.G. Everist, Inc. respectfully submits an as-built drawing of the French pit, as per your request in your
May 5, 2010 letter to Eric Scott of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DRMS).
L.G. Everist has requested a partial release of the financial and performance warranties of the Lohmann
Sand and Gravel mine, DRMS Permit M-2001-017. The partial release - a reduction of the bonding, not
an acreage release - is for the area within the Lohmann mine known as the French pit. The French pit is
the east part of the Lohmann Sand and Gravel Mine and is located in Section 6, Township 2 North,
Range 67 West, in the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado.
The French pit has been fully mined and reclaimed as per the approved reclamation plan for the mine
site, which is lined water storage. The reclamation completed at the French pit includes the construction
and certification of the compacted earthen liner, the backfilling, sloping, grading, and initial seeding. The
temporary berms that were located along the northern boundary of the French pit, which is Weld County
Road 26, have been removed and the stockpiled topsoil and overburden have been used for reclamation.
The enclosed as-built drawing shows the reclaimed elevations to be at or below the pre-mining original
ground elevations. The elevation at the top of the slope and on the surrounding flat areas along the north
side (by WCR 26) is 4812. The elevation in the south tip of the area is 4818. The original ground
elevation as noted on the DRMS Permit Map C-1, Man-Made Features, was 4816 at the north side of the
French pit, and 4818 in the south part of the French pit.
Because the final reclamation elevations are at or below the elevations of the original ground surface, the
final reclaimed elevation of the French pit will not adversely affect the surrounding floodplain. Therefore,
we have addressed Weld County's concerns and have shown that the French pit reclamation is in
compliance with floodplain regulations.
If you have any questions or need anything else to withdraw the objection to the Lohmann DRMS partial
release request, please contact me at 303-286-2247 or Imshults@lgeverist.com. Thank you.
Sincerely,
ZA6? ??
Lynn Mayer Shults
Regulatory Manager
Enclosure: French Pit - As-Built Drawing of final reclamation
cc: Dennis Fields, Jim Sittner, Matt Noteboom, of L.G.
