MANAGEMENT On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, enclosed is an application for a permit revision to expand the permit boundary to the west in order to access reserves that are currently part of the Bowie No. 1 mine. Following is a description of the proposed revision: Description of Revision The permit is being revised to develop access to the west under Terror Creek to mine the coal in the Bowie No. 1 Mine east pod. Coal will be mined from leases C- 37210, C -27442 and D- 036955. These leases were originally part of the Bowie No. 1 ' permit but by this revision appropriate portions of the leases will be incorporated into the Bowie No. 2 permit. The Operator plans to access the reserves from the east in the Upper B -Seam. Five longwall panels with an east west orientation are proposed. The longwall panels are located west of Terror Creek. The two northern panels are projected to be nearly two miles long. The western end of the two northern panels are projected to extend under Stevens Gulch road and the Pitkin Mesa Pipeline. The three southern panels are shorter because they are restricted to the west by areas mined out by the Bowie No. 1 mine. Three property owners are mined under by the western mine plan. They are Bowie Resources, LLC, Turkey Track Ranch and land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The northeast corner of land owned by the Ivan W. Goodwin Revocable Trust could be affected by subsidence although the effects should be minor because the overburden in the area is in excess of 1,000 feet. The western mine plan will not affect any land managed by the USDA -FS. Related Permit Actions Technical revision number 65 is in the process of being reviewed by DRMS. Approval of this technical revision will allow the development of the 1 West Mains under Terror Creek. Technical - - - - -- - revision number 66 is also in the process of being reviewed by DRMS. Approval of TR -66 Will -- -- -- allow for the construction of a ventilation shaft in the Terror Creek drainage. Right of Entry The new mine plan encompasses three existing Federal coal leases, C- 37210, C -27432 & D- 36955 so right of entry is not an issue for most of the area.
