MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, (BRL), enclosed is an application for a minor
revision to provide for the installation of three geotechnical holes. The holes will be
drilled from existing roads along Terror Creek. They will be used to find the best
location for a ventilation shaft along Terror Creek.
Background
Bowie originally intended to locate the shaft on the existing TC-03-01 pad but after
further engineering review it has been determined that this site will not work for raise
boring. There are 260 feet of colluvium material above bedrock making it impossible to
bore through with a raise borer.
The final location of the shaft will be determined by the depth of colluvium or
unconsolidated material. The raise bore drillers require a site to have less than 60 feet
of unconsolidated material. Bowie will drill at up to three different locations. The best
case would be that we find minimal amounts of colluvium at the first location so it won't
be necessary to drill at either of the other two sites.
Bowie would like to access the sites in the next two to three weeks while the snow
depth is deep enough to access the sites with one or two snow machines and tracked
equipment (snowcat). The drilling equipment and necessary drilling water will be
dragged behind the tracked equipment on a sled. The drilling equipment used is very
small with a total weight of approximately 1200 lbs.
Right of Entry
Right of entry is granted by BRL's Federal Coal lease subject to analysis of impacts by
the surface management agency. All three holes are located on BLM managed
surface.
