Box 1150
Silverthorne, CO 80498
Dear Mr. Norwick,
RECEIVED
,`(AN 27 2010
January 25, 2010
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
This letter is in response o the letter you sent to Nickolas Dickens regarding the
proposed mining plan amendment of the existing Everist Materials operation. Since this
property is adjacent to State Highway 9, CDOT is an interested party in your mining plan
amendment. As such, I request the following items for clarification of your plans:
• A scaled map, showing existing operations, SH 9, and proposed operations;
• Discussion of dust suppression protocols (particularly to prevent tracking of fines
onto SH 9);
Discussion of how groundwater and stormwater are managed and treated.
Changes in environmental regulations, as well as ongoing issues with other quarries, are
prompting CDOT to consider the above items more carefully than in the past.
Please send these materials to me. If you have questions, please contact Holly Huyck
720-497-6934. Your prompt response will help us to consider your proposed amendment
in a timely manner.
Sincerely,
a??k
Chuck Attardo,
Region 1 Planning and Environmental Manager
CC: Jay Kramer, Nickolas Dickens, Holly Huyck, Division of Reclamation, Mining, and
Safety
