Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety received Moffat Limestone's Technical Revision (TR)
request on January 7, 2010. The revision is for inclusion of a noxious weed control program based on
observations by Division staff during a routine inspection. Staff noted tamarisk (salt cedar) and bull
thistle in a limited area of the permitted lands. As requested Moffat Limestone contacted the Moffat
County Pest Management coordinator for guidance on the control plan.
Staff has reviewed the plan and finds it acceptable. Therefore TR-01 for a noxious weed control plan is
approved. Please be sure to include in the Annual Report efforts taken under the plan to control the
weeds. Staff notes the problem is small at this point. If the plan is followed the weeds should be
controlled easily. Failure to follow the plan could have significant negative impacts on the reclamation
of the site and costs at a future date. Thank you for your response on this issue.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, or by telephone
no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
G.
